I'm referring to the export (or extract) of messages from the Symphony system to whatever file format is relevant for us to do our part. We are auditors, and check client data for a whole range of potential breaches. We want to get access to the Symphony data - via Content Export presumably - but as we don't use Symphony we would like to understand how that works and what the result looks like.
I have no idea what a pod is, never mind a pod adminstrator. Again, I assume our client would and would also be able to export the data accordingly. I wa simply after a foothold on what the data might look like and whether it was possible to generate some test data.

You are indeed referring to the Content Export feature. You will need to ask your client to provide those files as only they are in control of the export format, duration and storage destination. We unfortunately do not provide material on admin functions including content export so you'll need to confer with your client on those matters. Hope that helps.

I understand. As lead developer on the project I am in fact trying to educate myself on the extract process and the resultant output.
Looks like the best approach is to use the admin documentation to learn the process.
What is this "extract process" you are referring to? If you are referring to Content Export, that's not a feature that we expose to members of the developer sandbox as it requires admin access. You will have to contact your pod administrator for assistance in this scenario.
